If there was something, and absolutely something, that Eduardo really hate, it was noise. This was one of the trait that he shared with his younger half-sister, Erinica, someone he was more fortunate to be blood-related with instead of Masaki, the cause of the noise currently giving him a migraine for the day. Eduardo growled at his room mate, who turned and stare at him with big, innocent eyes:

"Masaki, will you STOP playing the ukelele AND the drums AT THE SAME TIME?! I need PEACE to take my nap, you inconsiderate brat!"

Said brat pouted at the same time Russell entered the two's room, unaware of the situation he just stepped into.

"Just because you can't play two instruments at the same time doesn't give you a reason to shut ME up, no matter how jealous you are." She paused and turned to Russell for support, before mentally reminding herself that Russell was obviously as blur as a brick. "And Eduardo, for the record, they LOVE me."

And with that, Masaki packed up both her ukelele (It was originally Christopher's possession, which Masaki purchased at a low price.) and her drum (It is easy to disassemble and to assemble, so Masaki had no fuss in bringing it wherever she goes.) and head out of the room, slamming the door behind her as she does so. Eduardo glared at Russell, unpleased at the fact that Eri's boyfriend is still here when he's more pissed than a pregnant lady combined with a raging gorilla.

"What do YOU want? If it is one of your nonsense, you better-"

"Eri wants to see you now. If you want a joke, I can give you-"

Few moments later, Eduardo and a sorely bruised Russell entered Russell's shared room with Erinica. The door opened, revealing a stern but not angry Eri standing who ushered the two in. The other few occupants in the room were Hunter, Nathan, Meiko, Captain Morgan, Christopher, Juliana, Ally, Thomas, Gordon, Carl and Yu-Liang. Ally perked up from a fashion magazine she was reading, frowned and spoke:

"Where's Masaki?"

Carl snorted.

"Ally, I think Masaki isn't the problem here. Judging by Eduardo's facial expression, it's no doubt that she had pissed him off with one of her crazy attempts. Again."

"I don't even want to know how you figured it out. But Eri," Russell twirled towards his girlfriend, who snapped her fingers in response to his approach. He saw vines, small in size that were meant to hold something by thrusting its small form into the veins of the target's feet and hands, waving at him momentarily as the cluster of vines wrapped around Eri's right arm. He gulped and decided to continue before the vines decided to get hold of him. "Do you want me to call Masaki?"

"I'm here~! Oh." Masaki's grin faltered when she locked gaze with Eduardo, the later turned his head away sharply and instead chose to stare at the bookshelf holding his half-Sister's books, while the former stood close to Hunter.

"Alright. You can have your lovers' quarrel afterwards. " Erinica glanced at her half-brother and her half-sister as she signalled Gordon to turned on his laptop. "Now, we are about to pass by a privateer's fortress approximately in 5 hours. According to Captain Morgan, this fortress is known by many as 'the Perished Dream'. No one can go round the fortress, but everyone is required to go through it. It is an extremely dangerous place where pirates kill other pirates for goods and supplies since no traders are willing to trade there."

Erinica gestured for Captain Morgan to continue while she helped Gordon with his laptop.

"Few years ago, the government had issued a decree that said all pirates, once entered 'the Perished Dream', must registered and participate in a game where pirates have to kill other pirates until one is left standing. Nine people from each ship will be chosen, the catch is the winner is entitled to have all of the supplies won from the other pirates who have loss or dead."

"C-Can't we just change course? We won't have to d-deal with all t-th-those stuff..." Juliana stammered in a awfully soft voice, Christopher patting her head in efforts to calm her. Captain Morgan slowly shook his head, indicating that the crew had really no choice.

"Okay, so we just have to pick 9 people who are the strongest on the ship, and we have to beat everybody else in order to get more supplies? I thought we had plenty of food?"

Masaki inquired while staring at Nathan, prompting the cook to answer her.

"By observing the amount served daily and the seemingly bottomless hunger displayed by some of our crew mates, we WILL be out of food before we reach the next island."

Nathan spoke in a dead-panned voice, with Masaki sheepishly scratched the back of her head.

"E Heh..."

"Regardless of all that, we still have to pick 9 people. Certainly we can't choose Ally and Juliana." Gordon calmly scanned the room whilst standing and holding his laptop at once. He was typing some codes into it, but no one can understand those codes except for him. Erinica stood up silently, indicating that she would like to speak now.

"Any volunteers? I'm going though. Gordon, Christopher, it's best if you stay back so as to attend to any of us of we get injured etc, etc. You know, what you usually do." Erinica alerted the group before her, completely aware that the tension of the room was getting more thicker as the conversation continued on. "Hunter and Yu-Liang can come along too. Yes, Masaki?"

"Me! Me! I wanna go too!"
Masaki excitedly jumped into the conversation with no hesitation. The rest either sweat-dropped or face-palmed themselves at the 'obviously-happy-at-the-given-chance-to-punch-somebody' mood radiating off Masaki. Said girl turned to Carl and animatedly chat with him.

"Carl! Carl! You gotta come too!! We can settle our score by seeing who can defeat the most opponents!"

"Alright! You're on then! I bet I could-"

"Who says you're going?"

Masaki's happy mood seemingly vanished as she turned to face Eduardo, the person who had just voiced his objections at her recruitment. Erinica groaned to herself and stepped between the two.

"Eduardo, Masaki, will you two just stop it? Why do we have to do this all the time?"

"That's because he/she started it first!!!"

Her two half-siblings unanimously shouted while jerking a finger at each other. Masaki was fuming whereas Eduardo was equally as pissed. Carl came and gently pulled Eduardo backwards as Hunter did likewise to Masaki, except with slightly more force because she was itching to punch Eduardo's face.

"Let me at him! Let me at-"

"Masaki! You're staying back on the ship, and that's final!"

Erinica's voice echoed across the four walls of the room with Masaki staring at her sister, eyes expressing both shock and hurt.

"Wh-What?!?! Then he's-"

"Yes, he's coming with me. Meiko, Nathan, Carl, Russell and of course, Captain Morgan. The rest will be staying behind for safety reasons. And Masaki? Stop glaring at me already. I want you to stay back so you can join Thomas and Christopher to guard the ship if anything happens to us. "

"So you want ME to stay behind and WAIT while you all go and attempt suicide? Are you freaking kidding me??"

Erinica narrowed her eyes.

"Watch your-"

"I don't care about my language!! Just because Eduardo acts and thinks like you don't make me any less as your sister! I'm strong and I can heal you guys on the go too! Also, I don't-"

"Masaki...!" Ally and Juliana each tugged Masaki by her sleeves, trying to distract her from the matter that is causing a slight strain on Erinica and practically everyone else, even Nathan was worried about the look Masaki was currently giving to Eduardo.

Finally, after Ally and Juliana managed to remind Masaki about the dance that the three girls have yet to choreograph, Masaki reluctantly agreed to stay back on the ship. Those who were going decided to pack up as soon as possible, taking the necessities with them as for preparation. During this period Masaki had enclosed herself in Ally's room, leaving the room only when she's hungry. It was a good thing that Nathan decided to pre-cook several day's worth of meals, making sure that Thomas would heat up the food and serve everyone else when it was time to eat.

The Sirius finally reached the port; Many other pirate ships were already there, lining up in a neat row to register at the entrance station. Erinica and Gordon both stood at the ship's deck, filling in some necessary paperwork before the entrance clerk/guard gave them a number and admitted them in. Nathan and Christopher were silently taking in their surroundings with a small frown, accompanied by Meiko and Juliana whispering to each other while they never took their eyes off Eduardo. Said person was talking to his half-sister with Russell and Gordon patiently listening to the sibling's conversation.

"Any news on the tournament?"

"Not much. Briefing at that tent over there," Eri jerked a finger at a dirty looking yet massive tent in the centre of the ground, Gordon made a face at the state of their surroundings as the rest exited their cabins and glanced around them. "Tonight at 8PM, and the tournament starts the next morning at 6AM. I'm just curious as what can we do on this place. Not much place for us to slaughter each other."

"Unless it's laser-tag style?"
Carl sauntered up into the group with Hunter and Ally behind him. Ally immediately excused herself and made a beeline to where Meiko and Juliana welcome her cheerfully, Masaki evidently still in Hunter's room. Hunter nodded at Gordon's greeting, and proceeded to join in the conversation as well.

"I guess that means by tonight we'll find out just how long we will be staying, huh..."

"As long as we can survive, we can leave once this's done. Failing is not an option here."

Eduardo's words sounded throughout the whole ship. Everyone agreed and many of the crew members shouted their agreement while the rest nodded affirmatively.

Night came, the 9 chosen participants got off the ship with the rest watching them heading towards their destination. Some had decided to call it a night and had returned to their headquarters to rest, while others sat around and on guard. Christopher pulled Juliana closer to him and stroked her hair as she dozed off to sleep. Thomas placed a blanket and a mug of hot Jasmine tea before a sleepy Ally, who thanked him and moved for him to seat beside her. Gordon knocked at his shared room with his brother, unlocked the room (Hunter gave him his spare key) and witnessed Masaki practicing her taijutsu before she looked up. Giving a tired smile, she stood back straight and offered Gordon a cookie she stole from the kitchen, to which he kindly decline. Gordon sighed.

"How long have you been training?"

"Hunter left already?"

"You should know since he came back here to get his stuff. How long have you been training?"

Masaki turned and yawned before she replied.

"Since yesterday. I slept for 4 hours just now, your brother knocked me out because I refused to sleep."

"Masaki..." Pinching the bridge of his nose, Gordon walked towards Masaki and forcefully pushed her onto the bed, ignoring her glare and sounds of protests.

"Stop doing this to yourself. Masaki, you're overexerting your limits. One of these days you might just collapse out of fatigue. You need to get some sleep-"

"I can't!" Masaki interrupted. "You can't expect me to sleep while everybody's out there going to fight while I'm sitting here and wait. I'm not going to sleep, and definitely not leaving this room unless for toilet or hunger break, until they come home safe."

"And how about Hunter? Erinica? The both of them worry about you just as much as you do. Heck, even Eduardo, don't you give me that look, worries about you. That's why he argued and insisted not to let you go! Masaki, sometimes, being the hero doesn't mean that you will be strong and don't need anyone else to rescue you. They want to feel as though they can help you too! All of us knows you're strong, really! We just want you to realise that you need us just how much we need you!"

Silence.

Gordon taking in a few much needed air while Masaki begans to process his words. Was what he said, all those things, have been true? Was she always having this 'hero-complex' that she never realise? Was that the reason why she got into so much trouble for her sister and friends' sake? Was that why they decided to let her stay back this time while they go into trouble for her sake? If all of the above was a 'Yes, dimwit, you just realise that?!', then she has every right to help too, right??

"Gordon? Do you mind if I sleep in Morgan's room tonight?"

She had a very alarmed expression in reply to her question.

"Oh don't fret too much. I'm just going to use his writing table to write down a few things, stop staring at me as though I'm writing a suicide letter!, and if Hunter asked, just say I'm in Morgan's room. Deal? Sweet! Bye!"

A quick kiss on Gordon's cheek and a hasty packing of stuff, she rushed out of the room and shut the door with a very beet-red Gordon on the other side.

Oh dear me... (Author types this with a small smile on her face, for Masaki was about to be the main character next!!!)
